Simple DIY SiDE Table
Side table render
Remote working in the past few years is becoming more and more ubiquitous, this week as a sign of the times and also to make my remote working experience much better, I will be making a side table I can use while on the couch. The side table is designed to be easily movable as well as to fit the height of my couch arm rests (you can adjust the height to suit your context).
For this build you will need the following Supplies feel free to modify the plans to suit your needs/space.
Supply List:
0.75” x 3.75” - 400 cm actual common lumber boards
1.5” pocket screws
Wood paint (optional)
Clamps
Wood glue
Cut List:
(2) 60 cm Legs
(4) 30 cm Planks - Top & Bottom boards - (30cm by 9cm)
(2) 26 cm planks - Shoe Shelves -(26cm by 9cm)
Step 1 : Assemble the leg
Assembling the leg is pretty straight forward you can use wood glue or screws to join the two pieces.
Alternatively if your timber yard can pre-cut the piece for you in the dimensions below (the idea is that the leg should be strong enough to hold the weight of a laptop or book)
Step 2 : Glue Up the top and bottom boards
Glue up the top and bottom boards, make sure to have the middle board 4cm shorter - This is where we will be attaching the leg
Step 3 : Assemble the piece
•Use 1.5” counter sunk Screws to attch the bottom board to the leg. Repeat the same procedure to attach the top board.
Step 4 : Sanding & Painting
Give the assembled piece a final round of sanding and a finish of your choice. I will be using paint
An optional step is to round over the edges to give the piece a more professional look.
Final Step : Enjoy
